Streets of the Historic Center
Strolling through the historic center we will enjoy the charm of any of its streets and squares and we will discover, for example, the Nazareno chapel on Calle Tetuán to which devotees come to ask for the three graces on the first Friday in March. We also find the Sanctuary of the Apparitions on Calle Sor Lucía, an important Marian pilgrimage center of the 20th century. In this convent of the Dorotean Sisters, Sister Lucia, one of the three shepherds of Fatima, entered as a novice and it was in her cell located on the second floor, where the Virgin appeared to her in 1925.
Curros Enríquez Square
You cannot miss the Curros Enríquez Square, formerly the San Juan de Dios hospital that was demolished in the 19th century. The square is presided over by a bust of Alexandre Bóveda, a Galician politician. In the alleys near the Basilica of Santa María is the Campillo de Santa María with its houses with arcades from the XVI century, the Formigueira street, Platería Vella, Alvar Páez and Enfesta de San Telmo. In all of them we find some walls and houses of medieval origin, although they were retouched in the 16th century.
