Text : The Ferrería square is one of the most popular, crowded, and loved of the city, and also the key center of the life in Pontevedra. It is a place to meet friends, where cultural events or activities for children are celebrated, and it also has some of the best bars and cafés of the city. The name of the square comes from the forges that existed in the arcades, which supplied the rest of the trade unions with metal. It converges with the small Plaza de la Estrella, where the Casa de las Caras is remarkable. The Casa de las Caras is popular due to the number of faces on its facade. The Ferrería also converges with the Jardines de Castro Sampedro. In the middle of these gardens, the famous fountain fuente da Ferrería emerges (16th century). It was built in 1930 in this place, after being removed from the center of the square. Along with this collection of buildings, the important presence of two religious buildings stands out: San francisco and the Santuario de la Peregrina, and a group of buildings of stone, some of them with arcades, all of them with a perfect harmony.
